In May 2024, Senate Bill 727, was passed, requiring 169 student days to receive state incentive funding. In February 2024, the Neosho School District Board of Education approved the 2024-2025 academic calendar, as it reflected “at the time,” the required 166 student days.
Therefore, three additional days are required to be added to the 2024-2025 academic year in order to receive the incentive funding. These funds will be used for teacher salaries.
During the July 2024 board meeting, the calendar was reviewed and approved by the NSD Board of Education to adjust the following days:
PREVIOUS: 2024-2025 NSD School Calendar Adopted by BOE 02/20/2024 |
NEW: 2024-2025 NSD School Calendar Adjusted & Adopted by BOE 07/15/2024 |
Thursday, Oct. 31 – No School Parent/Teacher Conferences |
Thursday, Oct. 31 – Full Day |
Monday, Nov. 4 – No School – Teacher Workday |
Monday, Nov. 4 – No School - Parent/Teacher Conferences |
Monday, Jan. 20 – No School - Teacher Workday |
Monday, Jan. 20 – Half Day / Teacher Workday |
Thursday, May 22 – Students’ Last Day – Half Day |
Thursday, May 22 – Full Day |
Friday, May 23 - No School - Teacher Workday |
Friday, May 23 - Half Day / Students’ Last Day / Teacher Workday |
This means that school will be in session and/or teacher workdays are adjusted for the dates listed above.
Why is this important? By adding the three additional student days, NSD will be compliant, thus guaranteed to receive the state funding to provide teacher raises in fiscal years 2026-2027, 2027-2028 and 2028-2029.
