The Neosho School District is committed to the safety and well-being of our students and staff. As part of that commitment, and compliance with the new Missouri State law, “Get the Lead Out of School Drinking Water Act,” NSD conducted its testing, which included sampling drinking and food preparation sources to ensure compliancy.
The purpose of the law is to provide drinking water with a lead concentration level below five parts per billion (ppb) in sufficient amounts to meet all student and staff drinking water needs. The state law of five ppb level is below the EPA's National Primary Drinking Water Regulations for Lead of 15 ppb in municipal drinking water systems. Further, any school that tests at greater than 5 ppb of lead concentrations shall provide results and remediation plans to parents and staff.
As testing and remediation work is completed in the Neosho School District, test results and remediation updates will be posted in this space prior to the state-mandated reporting date of August 2024.
