School Counseling

Benton Elementary

Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Program Components:

School Counseling Curriculum: PreKindergarten to Fourth Grade students will have three classroom counseling lessons per month. We will learn about emotions, self-regulation, self-esteem, strategies to be successful in school, resolving conflicts, cooperation, career exploration, and many other topics.

Individual Student Planning: We enjoy meeting with students to discuss their future plans and to assist them during times of transitions.

Responsive Services: We are also available to assist students through short-term individual counseling as well as small group counseling.  We meet with individual students about things that are happening in their lives inside and outside of school.  Although we do not provide therapy, we are here to support student success. We facilitate small groups related to friendship, familial change, feelings, grief, social skills, self-control, and other topics as needed.

System Support: We are happy to support school-wide events, staff, and parents whenever possible.

As professional school counselors we strive to impact student growth in three areas: Academic Development, Career Development, and Social/Emotional Development.

I am excited to have the chance to be a part of your child's education. I have been a school counselor for over thirteen years. I received my Master’s of Science in School Counseling from Evangel University. Please let me know if I can assist you or your child during this school year.

I am thrilled to be one of your school counselors at Benton Elementary! This is my fifth year at Benton as a school counselor and I am certain that this will be the best one yet! I received my Master’s of Science in School Counseling from Lindenwood University. If your child or family needs additional supports or resources in or outside the classroom, I am happy to assist in any way I can!

Don't do things to be noticed or praised. Do things simply because they are the right thing to do.
